Last Thursday, Pope Shenouda III met at St Mark’s cathedral in Abbasiya, Cairo, the injured and the families of the victims of the Nag Hammadi Christmas Eve drive-by shooting which left six Copts and one Muslim dead, and nine injured. The Pope delivered a word of comfort to them, blessed them, and gave each family a monetary donation and a copy of the Bible. Through Anba Kyrillos, Bishop of Nag Hammadi, the Pope sent the same monetary amount to the family of the Muslim victim Ayman Hamed.
“We are looking forward to the verdict of the trial of the culprits,” Pope Shenouda said. “We hope justice will be attained for all, with the culprits and their collaborators penalised.”
