Anba Pachomeus, Bishop of Beheira and Pentapolis has left Cairo this morning heading to London for medical treatment. He had been admitted to al-Salam Hospital in Cairo earlier this week, suffering from persistent high fever. The medical team treating him told Watani he suffers from a bacterial infection, and advised travel to London for further investigations and treatment.
Anba Pachomeus was acting patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church from March 2012 in the wake of the death of Pope Shenouda III and until Pope Tawadros II was enthroned in November 2012.
Pope Tawadros visited Anba Pachomeus at al-Salam Hospital and prayed for him. Beheira parish is observing a three-day fasting and prayer period for their bishop.
