The Coptic Orthodox Bishopric of Public and Social Services, headed by Anba Yulius, is collaborating with the Environment Ministry to launch the campaign “Preserve the Environment”.
The campaign aims at preserving and beautifying small villages through raising the awareness of villagers and helping them clean up and beautify their surroundings. Till 15 August, seminars will be held to educate the villagers, followed by cleaning works and tree-planting.
The programme begins with Minya, some 250km south of Cairo, in the villages of Samsoum in Matai, and al-Sultan Hassan in Abu-Qurquas. It will then move to Zakariya in Ben-Sweif, some 100km south of Cairo, and Eqaab village in al-Beheira west of the Nile Delta.
