As Egypt’s Muslims celebrated the sacrificial feast, Eid al-Adha, last week, a group of young men and women from the churches of Banha in Qalyubiya, some 50km north of Cairo, attempted to bring joy to patients lying in hospitals and unable to celebrate the feast with their families.
Led by Rimon Reda who supervises the service of the sick in Banha churches, the group visited the Oncology and Hematology Departments at the Children’s Hospital in Banha. Accompanying them were Dr Maher Fathy Hanna, pediatric consultant at the hospital, and Mr Hisham Mashhour, head of its public relations department.
The young people from the Church spent time with the little patients, sang and played with them, and distributed juice and gifts, wishing them a happy feast and speedy recovery.
Finally, the visitors thanked the hospital management, headed by General Manager Dr Muhammad Kolaib, for allowing them to arrange the visit. In turn, the hospital management thanked the group for its visit and said it hoped for more visits in the future, since it had made the children so happy.
