The 11-year-old Coptic boy Fady Hany Badry has gone missing since 5 April from his home in the hamlet of Naj Shamma in Kom Gharib, Tema, Sohag, some 460km south of Cairo. His father, Hany Badry, had filed a report at Tema police station but to date the boy has not been found.
Naj Shamma is a hamlet with an entirely Coptic population. Mr Badry says he is on good terms with all, and has not received any demand for ransom, so the reason why the boy is missing is unclear.
In desperation, Mr Badry sent a SOS message to Interior Minister, General Magdy Abdel-Ghaffar, requesting his intervention for Fady to be found.
