Investigations are ongoing to find out about the cause of a fire that erupted last Thursday 10 December at the Coptic Orthodox monastery of St Anthony at Krefelbach in Germany.

The fire broke out in the early hours of Thursday at the monastery guesthouse. One guest who had come from Italy suffered burns and was moved to hospital in the nearby city of Koln. The guesthouse, which acts as a retreat centre, incurred severe damages. The Abbot, Anba Mishael, and all the monks and workers at the monastery are safe.
