Anba Pachomius; Metropolitan of Beheira, Matrouh, and Pentopolis; has met in London the
parents of the Egyptian young man, Sherif Adel Habib, who was killed in a garage
fire in London last month.
The meeting took place on Saturday 14 May. Anba Pachomius, who is widely
loved and revered as the eldest bishop in the Coptic Church and who was Acting
Patriarch in 2012 when Pope Shenouda III passed away till November of that year
when Pope Tawadros II became patriarch, prayed for the family and comforted
them.
University of Greenwich’s 21-year- old mechanical engineering graduate Habib
was rescued from a garage blaze in Cranleigh Gardens, Southall, during the early
hours of Monday 25 April and was taken to a specialist burns hospital in Essex,
where he was then pronounced dead. According to the Metropolitan Police, a man
in 20s was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
Investigations are ongoing.
