Pope Tawadros II is now home in Cairo following 15 days outside Egypt. The Pope arrived at Cairo airport from Vienna where he was seen off by Anba Gabriel, Coptic Orthodox Bishop of Austria; and Egypt’s Ambassador to Vienna, Amr Amer.
The Pope had traveled to Bari on Saturday 7 July to join Pope Francis and 18 Orthodox and Catholic Middle East Church patriarchs to pray for Christians of the Middle East. He then visited Rome where he was received by the Italian President in the presidential palace.
From Rome he flew Vienna on 9 July where he visited King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID) headquartered in the city, and celebrated
the Coptic Feast of the Apostles Peter and Paul on 12 July with the Coptic congregation at the Church of the Holy Virgin and Anba Moussa al-Aswad (St Moses the Black, also known as St Moses the Powerful) in Graz, Austria.
