Pope Tawadros II has decided to resume his weekly prayer meeting with the congregation as of the evening of Wednesday 9 September. The meeting, which the Pope had been used to hold every Wednesday evening since he became patriarch in November 2012, was discontinued since March 2020. That was among the decisions taken by the Pope and the Coptic Holy Synod to comply with the restrictions on gatherings on account of COVID-19 pandemic.
This week, Pope Tawadros will deliver his sermon at the church of the Holy Virgin and Anba Bishoy church at St Mark’s Cathedral grounds in Abbassiya. Cautionary measures against coronavirus will be adhered to by the attendants. The weekly sermon is usually broadcast live on Christian satellite channels.
