For the sixth year in succession since be became President of Egypt in 2014, Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi visited the Coptic Cathedral on Christmas Eve Midnight Mass to wish Copts a Happy Christmas. Copts Mark the Feast of the Nativity on 29 Kiahk, 7 January on the Gregorian calendar.
Pope Tawadros II was preparing to celebrate Midnight Mass at the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in Egypt’s new capital some 40km east of Cairo when President Sisi arrived.
The President warmly wished Pope Tawadros and the Copts in general a very happy Feast of the Nativity, and the Copts responded with a resounding: “We love you, President”.
