In a press statement, the Security Council condemned the cowardly terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 18 policemen and injured three in Sinai on 11 September. Sympathy of Security Council members and condolences were expressed for the families of the victims and the government of Egypt. The statement said terrorism comprised one of the most serious threats to international peace and security.
In the same vein, the Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Church headed by Pope Tawadros II, issued a statement condemning the treacherous terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 18 brave policemen. It said the Church was praying to the Lord for peace for the souls of those who lost their lives, comfort for their families, and healing for the injured. The church delivered a special supplication for the Lord to be with Egypt’s military and security men in their war against terrorism and evil powers that aim to threaten the security and stability of the nation.
