A source from the Bishopric of Beni Sweif, some 100km south of Cairo, said that
Beni Sweif Security Directorate had requested of the Bishopric to circulate a flyer
with the photo of a terrorist who is wanted by the police in connection with the
recent killing of 28 Copts. The security directorate asked that the picture of Hamza
Shabaan should be posted on the notice boards of on all churches affiliated to the
bishopric.
Shabaan was allegedly one of the Daesh (also known as ISIL or ISIS) masked men
who killed 28 Copts on buses that headed to the Western Desert monastery of St
Samuel the Confessor in Mount Qalamoun, some 200km south of Cairo, on 26
May 2017. The buses included Copts from Beni Sweif and Minya.
The security apparatus claimed that Shabaan was plotting for another attack against
churches in Beni Sweif.
