Yesterday saw the cathedral of St Mark’s in Alexandria hold an event to honour the International Women’s Day. Under the sponsorship of Pope Tawadros II, a day of prayer was held at the theatre of the papal premises in Alexandria’s St Mark’s grounds, in which the three major Churches in Egypt took part. The Coptic Catholic Church was represented by Fr Alphonse Ebeid, and the Evangelical Church by Rev. Dr Safwat al-Bayadi.
Words were delivered extolling the role of women in the human family and praying for them. Prayers were also said for Egypt and the Middle East, especially for the region’s Christians and for IS.
