Today the Coptic Church celebrates the Feast of the Resurrection, the mainstay of Christian faith and the most important event on the Coptic calendar.

Tomorrow, all Egyptians mark the annual Spring celebration of Shamm al-Nessim, a celebration that goes back to ancient Egypt. Age-old traditions of eating eggs, salted fish, onions, and green chickpeas, all of which symbolise the renewal of life that comes with Spring which is best celebrated in the outdoors, are practised with gusto. Egyptians head to gardens and parks to celebrate the day with song and dance and feast on the traditional foods.

Watani wishes its readers a blessed Feast of the Resurrection, and a joyful Shamm al-Nessim.
