Today the Coptic Church celebrates the feast of the Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles. The date marks the beginning of the service of the apostles, in response to Christ’s command: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. (Matt 28: 19-20).
