Evangelical Copts in Minya have joyfully celebrated the reopening of the Pentecostal church, closed since 1995, after its status was legalised, meaning it can now legally operate.
Rev. Atef Fouad, Head of the Pentecostal Synod of Evangelical Copts participated in the celebration on behalf of Rev. Andrea Zaki, Head of the Evangelical Church in Egypt. Also attending were members of the Synod, as well as Sheikh Mahmoud Gomaa, Secretary-General of Beit al-Eila in Minya, and Rev. Boulos Nassif member of Beit al-Eila.
Reverend Boulos Moussa Salib, assistant pastor of the church, said the 144-metre church used to foster various activities before it was closed down. He assured that the church administration intends to resume activity now that its status has been legalised. Planned activities include services to the aged and to widows, as well as a hospital and pre-school nursery.
Rev. Fouad expressed the Church’s gratitude to President Sisi for his efforts to combat terrorism, confirming that the Church continuously pray for him, all of Egypt’s leaders and Egypt in her entirety.
