In a village in Minya, Upper Egypt, the Copt Louis Abdullah Fawzy was compelled to halt construction work on a house he was building, in the wake of a complaint submitted by Mustafa Fathy Mahmoud, a Muslim villager, that Fawzy was building a non-licensed church.
Fawzy was questioned by the prosecution, and he confirmed that he owns the 300sq.m. plot of land and that he was building a house there, but denied any intention to build a church.
Fawzy was forced by the security authorities to halt construction until the building authorities conduct an inspection to check all the works are licensed.
