BA restores Greek Orthodox manuscripts

In a function of special honour, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa received the second lot of manuscripts of the treasures of the Patriarchal library; restored, digitised, and coded by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA). His Beatitude met the specialist staff of the Manuscript Centre of the BA and was briefed on the progress of the work and the challenges which the restoration procedure involved. He congratulated the staff on their excellent professionalism. Present at the function were the Consul General of Greece in Alexandria Christos Kapodistrias and the Honourable Chairman of the Hellenic Community of Alexandria Ioannis Siokas. 
The restoration of these manuscripts comes within a BA project to restore 100 Byzantine manuscripts. Pope Theodorus II presented the head of the BA, Ismail Seraggedin, with the Patriarchal Medal, and offered the BA a replica of the book Ptolemy’s Geography.
