Chiming in with the celebration of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the National Centre for Translation (NCT) is holding at its premises in Gezira, Cairo, its 7th fair for translated books. Arabic translations of international books will be offered at discounts that may go up to 50 per cent for students, researchers and media people.
The NCT also is taking part in several Ramadan book fairs in Cairo and Giza during which, according to NCT head Kamilia Sobhy, it will sign cooperation and circulation protocols for a number of its titiles.
New titles in Arabic translation cover topics of history, religion, poetry, and politics. Among these are Seven Seconds (In God We Trust) by the German playwright Falk Richter, translated by Yusry Khamis; and The Knights of Islam: The Wars of the Mamluks by James Waterson.
