Minya governor, Major General Salah Eddin Ziyada has handed out EGP300,000 worth of compensations to four Christian NGOs in Minya
The NGOs had been severely sabotaged by supporters of former president Mursi during their violent sabotage of Coptic institutions and homes last August.
Checks amounting to EGP75,000 each were handed to the following associations: the YMCA, the Jesuits and Frères, Gunoud al-Massih (Soldiers of Christ), and St Joseph’s.
Ziyada pointed out that all State authorities are combatting every attempt at sabotage and sectarian sedition, confirming that the Christians and Muslims of Minya will always remain united.
On their part, the NGO representatives stressed their conviction that the recent violence does not in any way reflect the time honoured cordial relations between Egypt’s Muslims and Christians.
