Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi has been invited by President John Magufuli of Tanzania to lay the foundation stone of the hydroelectric dam to be built in Tanzania’s Stiegler’s Gorge Hydroelectric Power Station. In a telephone call to President Sisi, the Tanzanian President highly praised the mutual ties between the two countries and the Egyptian investment in Tanzania. President Sisi welcomed the invitation, stressing that the dam will be constructed in a way that brings pride to Egypt, Tanzania and the African Continent.
The Egyptian construction firm, the Arab Contractors, in partnership with ElSewedy Electric Company has won the bid to design and build the Stiegler’s Gorge dam on Rufiji River, which represents to Tanzania as one of the most important national projects for power generation.
Engineer Mohsen Salah, chairman of the Arab Contractors Company, expressed his happiness to win the bid to design and build the new dam.
The two companies had submitted an offer to build the 2,115-megawatt hydroelectric dam in Tanzania’s Stiegler’s Gorge Hydroelectric Power Station, with investments worth USD3 billion.
