In a report issued today by the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) an increase in inflation rate was recorded last March at 9.5 per cent, since March 2011. The 123 points last year’s leap is mainly due to the increase in the prices of gas, vegetables and poultry.
According to the CAPMAS report the highest rate in regards of consumer/end user prices was recorded in March 2012, it reached 122.6 points, the report said, recording a 1.2 per cent monthly increase, against a total increase of 9 per cent during this last year.
Rural areas, according to the report, witnessed a 10.1 per cent increase in inflation rate, in comparison with March 2011, recording a 124.9 points increase and with a monthly leap of 1.3 per cent.
The monthly rise in the consumer price index, said the CAPMAS report, is due to the rising prices of electricity, gas, vegetables, fruits, meat, poultry, fish, dairy products and transportation.
