Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, Admiral Usama Rabie, announced that shipping traffic in the New Suez Canal registered an unprecedented leap in October 2019 regarding the number of ships and tonnage crossing the canal, and accordingly the revenue generated.
According to Admiral Rabie, 1790 ships crossed the Canal, at a tonnage of 108 million and 900,000 tons, and revenue of USD505 million. This amounted to
an increase of 8 per cent compared to October last year when 1657 ships crossed the Canal.
