The Center for Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation of Mansoura University’s Faculty of Medicine has been selected as best of its kind in the Middle East by the International Society of Gastroenterology and Oncology. The news was announced during the 30th International Gastroenterology and Liver and Pancreas Conference, whvich was held in the Russian capital Moscow.
In presence of 2000 participants from all over the world, the conference also honoured Mohamed Abdel-Wahab, Professor of Surgery at Mansoura University and supervisor of its liver transplant programme for ‘his remarkable efforts in this field’.
For his part, Dr Abdul Wahab said he was working to raise the number of transplant operations from two cases a week to three. He added that once the new Centre the university was building would be complete, more transplants may be performed, and waiting lists of patients would be eliminated.
Back in Egypt’s city of Mansoura on the eastern branch of the Nile Delta, Dr Abdel-Wahab was received, together with al-Saeed Abdel-Hadi , Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, to congratulate them and tell them how proud he was.
