A baby with two heads and two spines was born two days ago to a woman in her twenties in a private clinic in Kom-Ombo, Aswan. The baby was moved to hospital to follow up on his health condition.
According to Ihab Hanafi, deputy of Ministry of Health in Aswan, this is an extremely rare case because the baby was born with two heads, two spines, one heart and single intestines. He said the baby’s health was stable and he would be transferred to the National Research Centre in Cairo to monitor his condition.
The baby’s father, Muhammad Ahmed Farrag, 37, who lives in Ezbet al-Wahi in Kom Ombo, north of Aswan, said his 25-year-old wife was delivered of the baby through caesarean section. “We already have a healthy 18 month-old daughter,” he said.
