A cooperation protocol has been signed between Egypt and China, according to which rabies vaccine will be produced in Egypt. Health Minister Ahmed Emad al-Din attended the signing ceremony which took place in Cairo on Thursday 13 July.
The protocol was signed was signed by the Egyptian Company for Production of Vaccines (EGYVAC) and Liaoning Cheng Da Biotechnology Company of China. The agreement works to boost technological cooperation between the two companies over the production of rabies vaccines.
It is scheduled that the first batch of vaccine would be produced at EGYVAC factories in six months time. Three million vials a year would be produced, of which Egypt would locally consume some two million, and one million would be used for export, Mr Emad al-Din said.
