Egypt has signed with Tanzania a contract to build the Stiegler Gorge dam on the Basin of Rufiji River as an important Tanzanian national project to generate power.
The dam will be constructed by the Egyptian firm The Arab Contractors, jointly with ElSewedi company at a total cost of USD3.6 billion.
Recently, President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi discussed in a phone call with his Tanzanian counterpart John Magufuli Stiegler’s Gorge Hydroelectric Power Station’s latest developments. Stiegler’s Gorge Hydroelectric Power Station is expected to produce 5,920 GWh of power annually to fill the electricity and energy shortage in Tanzania.
