Magda Gobran, famous both as Mama Maggie and Egypt’s Mother Theresa, celebrated with the children of Manshiyet Nasser Charity Association the Arab Hope Makers award she had won in Dubai earlier last month. The charity was founded and is served by her.
The children welcomed Mama Maggie with the National Anthem and the song of Benhebek Ya Masr (We love you Egypt). Mama Maggie reminded them that love is the base and progress of good and future and that we must build a future founded on love.
As she is used to do, Mama Maggie washed and kissed the feet of the children and gave them candy.
Mama Maggie was among the five winners of the Arab Hope Makers awards offered by Emir of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. In the 1980s she abandoned a lucrative career and a brilliant social life to dedicate her efforts to serving the underprivileged, starting with the garbage collectors in Manshiyet Nasser on the outskirts of Cairo.
