Egyptian women 48.5 per cent of the voters

Women in Egypt make up 48.5 per cent of the total registered voters, according to Abu-Bakr al-Guindy, head of the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics. Mr Guindy said that while being hosted on a talk show on the satellite TV channel, al-Arabiya al-Hadath.

Mr Guindy said that the voting power of Egyptian women is estimated at 25 million votes.
He pointed out that 40 million Egyptians live below the poverty line.
