The police in the Upper Egyptian town of Minya has caught the 37-year-old Hosni Ahmed for illegal possession of 100 pieces of stolen antiquities. Ahmed was caught on the train station while waiting for the train; he attempted an escape and threw the bag in which he has placed the stolen antiquities. The police, however, were able to catch him.
Ahmed denied stealing the antiquities and claimed that they were not original. A report was filed and an official committee of antiquity experts formed to verify the authenticity of the pieces.
