In celebration of “Permanent Cinema”, Cairo’s French Institute is now hosting the Semaine du Cinéma Français the “French Film Week” which constitutes five days of non-stop French film screenings from 13 to 17 March 2017. Permanent cinema means screening films continuously without interruption, a practice which was discontinued in the 1980s.
Each day is dedicated to a theme: love; childhood; politics; acting; and a thriller; 16 exceptional films are also on display. The programme spans several decades and includes works by Jean-Luc Godard, François Truffaut and Jean Renoir.
The French Institute expressed its thanks and appreciation for Hend Sabry, Andrea Ferréol, and Marianne Khoury, whom it described as “the three godmothers of the French Film Week” and great lovers of French cinema.
