On the occasion of the anniversary of the 1848-1849 Hungarian Revolution and
War of Independence, the Embassy of Hungary organised a concert at Arab Music
Institute on Wednesday 8 March, which the Hungarian Ambassador to Egypt Dr
Peter Kveck and the Hungarian Culture representative Marianna Fa attended. A
second concert is planned for Wednesday 15 March 2017.
The repertoire includes Béla Bartók’s Andante for flute and piano, and his Three
Hungarian folk songs from the county of Csík for flute and piano; Laszló Lajtha’s
Two pieces for flute solo Op. 69, and his Sonate en Concert Op. 64 for flute and
piano; as well as Béla Bartók and Paul Arma’s Hungarian peasant songs for flute
and piano. The performers: Péter Olah on the flute and David Hales on the piano.
