Proceeding with the cooperation they started earlier this year, the Swedish Institute Alexandria (SwedAlex) and Shoft Taharosh “I Saw Harassment” initiative have organised a training and awareness-raising event in Alexandria against sexual harassment. Campaigners from the initiative took to the streets and with flyers informing about the crime and its impact on the society. The Swedish Institute also hosted and supported a “Training of Trainers” (ToT) for I saw Harassment.

The cooperation between SwedAlex and I saw Harassment started in May 2014, through “Stop Harassment”, a 10-day initiative that took place in Cairo and Alexandria against gender based violence.

To raise awareness and trigger action to end this global scourge, the UN observes International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November.
