The Swedish Institute Alexandria (SwedAlex) has organised its 5th “Dardasha Masriya” (Egyptian Chats) workshop in Port Said, with 40 male and female participants representing youth from Port Said, Ismailiya, Suez and Damietta governorates.
The two-day workshop tackled various topics including the role of civil society, social marketing, dialogue, acceptance of others, decentralisation, social accountability and youth success stories.
“Dardasha Masriya” is an initiative developed by youth in cooperation with SwedAlex to promote dialogue and active citizenship, with the objective of strengthening young citizens’ involvement in Egyptian society in all governorates. This interaction and exchange of experiences helps youth to come up with ideas and solutions for all the challenges facing their society, and hopefully inspire on the ground civic initiatives.
Previous “Dardasha” workshops were held in Alexandria in the north of Egypt, as well as Beni Sweif, Qena and Aswan in the south, with the intention of organising future workshops in several other areas all over Egypt.
