A recent event held in Cairo has highlighted success stories, achievements and concrete results of EU cooperation in support of young people in Egypt. The event: “Youth, YOU can make a change” was hosted by the EU Delegation to Egypt at the Greek Campus in Cairo, and organised by the regional communication programme ‘EU Neighbours South’.
The Info Soirée gave the floor to inspiring young Egyptians who benefitted from EU-funded initiatives. It aimed at raising awareness about EU cooperation and its direct impact on beneficiaries, and at providing youth and civil society with a platform to network and exchange ideas.
The event, which was attended by Head of the EU Delegation, Ambassador Ivan Surkoš, brought together over 120 youth and representatives of media and civil society organisations. It included a panel discussion offering the audience information on EU opportunities, ranging from education, technical and vocational education and training, entrepreneurship, and support to youth policy development. The evening wrapped up with an exhibition of selected EU-funded projects targeting youth, and a music performance.
The Cairo event fell within the #EU4YOUTH social media driven campaign (Facebook, Twitter) aimed at raising awareness of EU-funded youth initiatives in the Southern Neighbourhood countries. The campaign targets one million young people in the 18-35 age group, in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia.
