The Coptic Maspero Youth Union (MYU) has called for a demonstration tomorrow, Saturday, in front of the US embassy in Cairo at 5:00pm to protest against the visit of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Egypt the same day. The demonstration takes place under the slogan: “No to the US – Muslim Brotherhood (MB) alliance to impose their will upon Egypt.” A similar demonstration will be held Saturday morning in front of the presidential palace, and another will be held in Alexandria on Sunday morning, where Clinton is scheduled to speak at the Bibliotheca Alexanadrina.
The MYU created a page on facebook entitled “Hillary, You are NOT welcomed in Egypt”. Joining the MYY protest are other Coptic movements; among them the Shubra Copts Movement.
The coordinator-general of MYU Andrawus Uweida said that the protest is a patriotic act by the young people who took part in the 25 January 2011 Revolution seeking freedom. “It is a protest against the US continued interference in Egypt’s affairs and against the secret deals between the US and the MB. It is against the pressure the US is applying on Egypt’s Military Council, the American support for the Islamist Mohamed Mursi even before he became president, and the US pressure to violate the court ruling to dissolve parliament.”
