A partnership agreement has been signed between Egypt’s Holding Company for Biological Products and Vaccines (Vacsera) and the Ministry of Military production on one hand, and Abu Dhabi Medical Supplies Company for the supply and installment of a production line in the factory that will produce self-destructive syringes. The factory will be constructed in the satellite city of 6 October, west of Cairo, as a three-storey building on an area of 2,700 square metres. The Ministry of Military Production’s Factory54 will complete the pharmaceutical utilities in the new factory in parallel with the work to supply and install the projected production line.
Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population, Ahmed Emad Eddin Radi, attended the signing of the contract at Vacsera headquarters in Agouza, Cairo, in the presence of Muhammad al-Assar, Minister of Military Production, and Samy al-Neqaby, commercial representative of the UAE Embassy in Cairo.
Dr Radi said that the new production line will be the first in Egypt and Africa, and the second in the Middle East. It comes at the cost of USD16.5 million, he said, and will start production in two years time, with an annual 100 million syringes produced according to the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO).
