Today, Christians in Egypt and the world over celebrate Easter Day.
Tomorrow, Egyptians celebrate Shamm al-Nessim, the Spring feast that goes back to pharaonic times.
“But now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light,” Ephesians 5:8. Light is one of the features of Christ.
For Watani’s Wagdy Habashy, it is perfect that the Resurrection, Shamm al-Nessim and Spring, all coincide, intertwining aesthetics and the meanings of colour. White is soft and Spring-like; it helps to make the pastel palette more lively.
The shimmering light and transparent white, with wonderful intonations of pureness and clarity, shine from the flesh and clothes of Christ, blinding the sights of the guards of the tomb. The white light illustrates the greatest power of purification, significantly manifested in the Resurrection.
Watani wishes its readers a Happy Easter and a pleasant Shamm al-Nessim
