A seven-metre-tall shark was captured two days ago in the Gulf of Suez. It took the fishermen more than two hours to catch the shark which, owing to its giant size and three-tonne weight, could not taken into the fishing boat and had to be towed along.
The head of the Fish Traders Association, said that this species of shark is known as “the tiger”.
Bakry Abul-Hassan, the elder of the fishermen clan in Suez, said that such big sharks can never be caught with ordinary fishing nets. He thinks the recent catch had been weak or even dying and could thus not escape the fishing nets, or that it had barged into a passing ship and the bump had sapped its strength.
