Today the Coptic Orthodox Church and Egypt in her entirety celebrate the glorious Resurrection of Christ, a feast that has rightly been termed “Feast of joy and peace”. Today we remember how God saved humankind through Christ’s crucifixion, His triumph over death and His resurrection on the third day. Jesus Christ thus spared us the agony of death and inaugurated a new era: an era of grace in which we are no longer slaves, but children of God. Through Christ, God is no longer a feared master, but a loving father. Humans no longer refrain from sinning for fear of death, but for endeavouring to bring joy to the heart of the Father.
On this special day I express my heartfelt wishes for a happy Feast of the Glorious Resurrection to the head of the Coptic Orthodox Church, our loving and wise pastor His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, also to all Coptic metropolitans, bishops, members of the clergy, and the congregation. I also extend sincere greetings to our dearly loved heads, pastors and congregations of the Catholic and Evangelical Churches in Egypt. I pray that the Heavenly Father would bless His Church and protect our dear Egypt in her path towards modernity, stability, and progress.
