The third Egyptian humanitarian aid airplane arrived at Juba in South Sudan last 21 June. Nader Shebl, representative of the Egyptian Embassy in Juba was in the airport to welcome it; as were Health Minister of Republic of South Sudan, Dr Reik Gai Kok; and Dr Paul Diehl, UN Commission of Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA.
According to Mr Shebl, the aid plane is part of a direct air-bridge between Egypt and South Sudan to deliver humanitarian aid to the Sudanese people. The bridge started on 12 June in response by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to a call by South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit to the international community to support his country against the threat of famine.
The airlift includes ten planes, two per week. They carry food, dried milk and medicines.
