The American Coptic Association is organising its first trip to Egypt from 22 December 2016 to 3 January 2017. The trip will include visits to Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, Aswan and Hurghada.
According to Adel Aguib, head of the American Coptic Association, the trip comes within efforts by the association to support Egypt during the hard times it is going through. Mr Aguib says that these efforts come in response to the recommendations of the first economic conference held in New Jersey in September 2016. The conference, which was well-attended by the Coptic community in the US, featured words by 24 Egyptian MPs who pledged political and institutional commitment to facilitating the concrete implementation of the “Holy Family Project” that would turn into tourist destinations the sites traversed by the Holy Family during its biblical flight into Egypt from the face of Herod the King in the first AD century. It is hoped that this would make Egypt a pilgrimage site for Christians the world over.
Mr Aguib also says that the association is strongly encouraging Egyptian Americans to invest their savings in Egypt and to visit their motherland, in an effort to promote investment and tourism in Egypt.
