In the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris last Friday, and the Daesh statement which claimed the attack and promised more to come, security has been heightened at Cairo and Alexandria theatres. The statement also explicitly mentioned that music and art were works of the devil that, as such, should be targeted.

The Cairo Opera House and other theatres in Egypt’s two main cities are now surrounded with security forces, and a new system is being applied for entry to concerts or shows, that requires proof of identity through the ID card.
