On 8 April, Coptic Easter Sunday, 18-year-old Rasha Khalaf Thabet was reported missing. Thabet is a young Coptic woman from the town of al-Fashn in Beni-Sweif, some 100km south of Cairo. Ms Thabet had reportedly gone to see her grandfather to wish him Happy Easter, but never went back home. Her family filed a report with the police claiming she had been kidnapped.
According to the family lawyer, Essam Reda, a friend of Ms Thabet, named Injy, said she saw three men pushing her friend Rasha into a car before it sped away.
