In the wake of the Port Said tragedy
Pope Shenouda III yesterday delegated Anba Moussa, Bishop of Youth, and Anba Raphael, Bishop-General of Downtown Cairo churches, to offer the Coptic Orthodox Church’s condolences to al-Ahli Club in the wake of the Port Said tragedy of 1 February when 74 Ahli Ultras fans lost their lives following a football game.
Anba Moussa relayed to Hassan Hamdi, president of Ahli club, the condolences of Pope Shenouda III and his deep grief at the loss of lives. He signed his name in the condolence book.
All religions, Anba Moussa said, believe in eternal life; all those who died are not dead but alive.”
“We ask God,” Anba Moussa said, “to give their families consolation, to heal the injured, and to put an end to all forms of violence in Egypt.”
