Nadi Atef Shaker, a rights activist in the Upper Egypt town of Minya, and founder of the Justice and Development Human Rights Organisation has received anonymous threats over his mobile phone that he or members of his family would come under attack unless he stops reporting and registering the incidents of violence in Minya.
Shaker filed a claim with the Mallawi police station citing the threats. They involved kidnapping his children and burning his home, if he goes on with his activist work. To date, he has regularly compiled files on the incidents of violence which have been taking place in the village of Dalga and the town of Mallawi in Minya. The majority of these incidents were against Copts.
