“Towards a fruitful, thriving Church” was the theme topic discussed by the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church in its third seminar. The seminar ran for four days from 15 to 19 November at Logos Centre in the monastery of Anba Bishoy in the Wadi al-Natroun in Egypt’s Western Desert.
With participation of 98 metropolitans and bishops, the Coptic Institute for Church Administration and Development (COPTICAD) led the lectures and workshops, tackling the topic of “The Overseer”; referring to the meaning of the word “Bishop” (Ⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ).
The sessions witnessed keen interaction and vivid exchange of views among the Synod members, especially along the lines of more modern and effective methods in pastoral service, the aim being to better convey the Church’s spiritual and educational message strongly to her children.
The Synod members congratulated Pope Tawadros II on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of his papacy; he was enthroned on 18 November 2012.
