Father Mina Samir, secretary to Anba Aghapius, Bishop of Deir Mawas and Dalga in Minya, some 320km south of Cairo, told Watani that a number of Copts have reported seeing the Holy Virgin manifest herself on the spire of the church of the Holy Virgin in Deir Mawas. The sight was captured by camera.
Fr Mina said that Anba Aghapius saw the photographs, but said the Church would wait for more appearances by the Holy Virgin in the same place to confirm her manifestation.
The Bishop said that appearances by the Holy Virgin are always reason for comfort and joy for Copts, especially during hard times. He said that this time is close to the Holy Virgin’s Fast which begins on 7 August and ends with the Feast of her Assumption on 22 August.
