Pope Tawadros II issued a papal decree assigning General Bishop Anba Ishaq to Fayoum diocese; Fayoum lies 100km southwest Cairo. The move came as an aftermath to the decision by Anba Abra’am, the current Coptic Orthodox Bishop of Fayoum, to relinquish his post as bishop, and retreat to the Western Desert monastery of Anba Bishoi.
Watani reported the decision in a post last August 2017

According to Fr Boulos Halim, spokesperson of the Coptic Orthodox Church, Anba Ishaq has been officially charged with handling Fayoum parish affairs, since Anba Abra’am has insisted on keeping to the monastery despite appeals by the Church and congregation to return to his parish.
