Egypt has retrieve eight pieces of antiquities that had been illegally smuggled outside the country in the wake of security breakdown during the 2011 Arab Spring.
According to Shaaban Abdel-Gawwad, general supervisor of the recovered antiquities department at the Ministry of Antiquities, the Bavarian authorities handed the artefacts to Egypt’s Embassy in Berlin last February.
The retrieved pieces include a collection of pottery vessels of different shapes and sizes, dating back to the late period of ancient Egyptian civilisation, and had been used by ancient Egyptians in their everyday life.
